Brodie, Highland Industrial Supplies Sutherland Cup Final this weekend, Skye vs Newtonmore, how have you and the team been preparing for your biggest game of the season?
Yeah the boys have been putting in a huge effort in training everybody is looking extremely fit and sharp for Saturdays game.
Newtonmore have been in really good form again this year, however, one of your 3 defeats did come against Skye in the league, what do you make of them as a team?
Yeah they’re a really strong, young and fit team and it’s certainly not going to be a walk in the park on Saturday. They have an all round strong team there goalkeeper Callum will be hard to beat this weekend but we have put goals past him before and If we keep to playing are shinty we will be fine.
A lot is made about the Camanachd Cup medals within Newtonmore II’s squad with the likes of Glen Mackintosh etc. but the squad has an average age of 21.35, do you think the young players like yourself get enough credit?
It’s obviously great having someone like Glen Mac in the team as someone to look up to and learn from but with a lot of young boys in the team I think Peter Ross dose a great job it giving everyone their credit when due and encouraging the boys.
Speaking of Glen, you have 18 goals this season, he has 22 – how do you rate your chances of catching him this campaign?
Yeah, this season the forwards have worked amazing together and we have managed to score a lot of goals. being so close to Glen for top goal scorer is amazing and hopefully with the few games left I can scrape past him.
From a personal standpoint obviously you were cup tied for last year’s final, what would it mean to you personally and of course to the wider team to win the Highland Industrial Supplies Sutherland Cup, especially the 100th Anniversary Final?
This year it’s a big one it’s the 100th year so we obviously want to win I mean it would mean the world to the team if we do win and with me missing out last year being cup tied it would be great feeling to win this year.
