2021 Highland Industrial Supplies Sutherland Cup Semi-Final Draw

The draw for the 2021 Highland Industrial Supplies Sutherland Cup Semi-Final took place yesterday afternoon at Blairbeg Park, Drumnadrochit where the final will be played on 16th October. The draw is as follows:

Lovat                               vs                          Lochside Rovers or Kinlochshiel

Beauly                               vs                             Newtonmore

2019 Finalists Lochside Rovers and Lovat could meet each other in the semi-final if Lochside can beat Kinlochshiel in the outstanding Quarter-Final match. Newtonmore who emphatically knocked out Kyles in the last round will be taking on Beauly in the other match-up, Beauly will be looking to make it to their 1st Sutherland Cup Final since they won it in 1957.

Semi-Finals will take place at neutral grounds which will be announced by the Camanachd Association in due course. The Semi-Finals will take place on 4th September.

In speaking of the cup draw, Garry Mackintosh of HIS said, “It has certainly thrown up some fascinating ties. I will be especially interested in keeping an eye on what happens between Beauly and Newtonmore and of course should Lochside beat Kinlochshiel we will have a repeat of the 2019 final in the semi-finals which should be exciting.

Anyone who knows me will know that GlenUrquhart Shinty Club is my home and Blairbeg is their home so I am delighted that the final is coming here on the 16th October.”

Camanachd Association CEO, Derek Keir added, “The next 2 months are going to be truly exciting for everyone in the shinty community as we progress into cup final season. This is testament to all the hardworking volunteers at clubs right across the country who enabled us to restart our sport and everyone involved should feel proud that we have been able to deliver a season of shinty despite the challenging circumstances. I, like everyone else, eagerly anticipate the Highland Industrial Supplies Sutherland Cup Semi-Finals and wish the best of luck to all teams involved.”
