Bidh sgiobaidhean iomain de Ghàidheil à Èirinn agus Alba a’ cruinneachadh ann an Steòrnabhagh agus Siabost airson latha de spòrs nan Gàidheal uile tro chànan nan Gàidheal. ‘S e seo an còigeamh farpais deug a chaidh ruith leis an ainm.
Bhon a thòisich e san Òban ann an 2007, tha an fharpais, a tha a’ faighinn taic-airgid bhon stòras Cholmcille aig Bòrd na Gàidhlig, air iomain tron Ghàidhlig a bhrosnachadh agus a leasachadh air feadh na h-Alba is na h-Èireann. Tha tachartasan air an cumail ann an Conamara, Beal Feirste, Glaschu, An t-Eilean Sgitheanach, An Gearasdan agus Tìr Chonnaill.
Bidh sgioba Gàidhlig na h-Alba aig na fir agus na boireannaich a’ cluich an aghaidh sgiobaidhean bho Uladh, Ghaillimh agus Baile Àtha Cliath fo na riaghailtean co-rèiteach. Tha am farpais air fad ga ruith tron Ghàidhlig, agus ’s e sealladh iongantach a bhios ann aig Sgoil Shiaboist, dachaigh aig Camanachd Leòdhais.
Bidh an fharpais eachdraidheil seo a’ cur fàilte air muinntir nan eilean agus a’ comharrachadh 30 bliadhna on a thill iomain a Leòdhas aig a’ bhliadhna ùr,1995. Bidh e a’ tòiseachadh aig 10.30m air Disathairne 9mh an t-Samhain.
Tha Comhairle nan Eilean Siar air taic a chumail ris an fharpais le goireasan, agus ma bhios an t-sìde mì-chàilear, thèid cùisean a ghluasad do Chraobhraid Mhic a’ Ghobhainn agus pàirc gach sìde.

Bidh Iomain Cholmcille XV na thachartas iongantach a’ taisbeanadh spòrs nan Gàidheal ann an cridhe nan Eilean Siar.
Iomain Cholmcille, the international Gaelic shinty-hurling tournament, will be held in the Outer Hebrides for the first time on the 8th and 9th of November 2024.
Shinty, hurling and camogie teams of Gaelic speakers from Scotland and Ireland will gather in Stornoway and Shawbost for a day of the sport of the Gael all through the language of the Gael. This will be the fifteenth running of the competition.
Since it began in Oban in 2007, the competition, which receives support from the Colmcille fund run by Bòrd na Gàidhlig, has promoted shinty and Gaelic throughout Scotland and Ireland. The event has been held in Connemara, Belfast, Glasgow, Skye, Fort William and Donegal.
The Alba Gaelic teams for men and women will face teams from Ulster, Galway and Dublin in compromise rule games. The competition will be run entirely through the medium of Gaelic, and will be a great exhibition at Sgoil Shiaboist and the home of Camanachd Leòdhais. This historic competition will welcome all islanders and marks 30 years since shinty returned to Lewis at New Year 1995. The competition will commence at 10.30am on the Saturday 9th November.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is supporting the competition with faciltites, and if the weather makes Shawbost unplayable, the competition will be switched to Smith Avenue All Weather pitch in Stornoway.
An Lanntair will function as the event hub in Stornoway with a programme of events to support the competition including cèilidhs with Irish and Scottish Gaelic music and culture across the weekend.
