Kingussie High School retained the Great Glen Schools Shinty Sixes today, Monday 5th October, defeating hosts Glen Urquhart High School 3 – 0 at Blairbeg Park, Drumnadrochit.
A total of ten teams competed in a round robin competition with Kingussie High School A and B team, Glen Urquhart High School and Lochaber High School all winning through to the semi finals.
Kingussie A beat Kingussie B 3 – 1 to book their place in the grand final with Glen Urquhart and Lochaber requiring penalties when the teams were tied at 2 – 2 after extra time with Glen Urquhart winning the shoot out 1 – 0.
Kingussie A dominated the final and a brace from Jaiden McCormack and a goal from Brodie Campbell was enough to see them run out 3 – 0 winners. Lochaber claimed third spot over Kingussie B, and there was further cheer for Kingussie High School when Jaiden McCormack was awarded player of the tournament.
Mr Fulton, Depute Head Teacher of Glen Urquhart High School made the presentation of the Great Glen School’s Shinty Cup and medals and went on to thank Glen Urquhart and Strathglass Shinty Clubs for their assistance in setting up the competition, to Michael Fraser for refereeing and to Garry Mackintosh of Highland Industrial Supplies for his continued sponsorship and support of the competition.
