Kings see off Skye 4-1 to reach Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Final

Ronald Ross’s men were too strong for na Sgitheanaich, but they had to overcome a mid-game push back from Skye to clinch the win.

Both sides came into the game still feeling the effects of the injury crisies which have plagued the teams over the course of the 2026 season, with the likes of Dylan Borthwick and John Gillies only able to start on the bench. The wind was blowing strong over Bught Park, and it was Skye that won the coin toss which meant they would play with favourable conditions in the first half.

The chances came for both sides, but it was Savio Genini who would opening the scoring after 18 minutes. An injury to Roddy Young saw Jack Nelson take his place, whilst John Gillies was introduced into the forward line for Skye. It was the captain who assisted Skye’s comeback, playing the ball into Jordan Murchison who slotted in to give those who had made the trip over to the mainland something to shout about.

As often tends to happen though, Kingussie were undeterred and fought back almost instantly with Savio Genini, as he so often does, finding the net for Kingussie in their time of need. Skye dug in to keep them in the game, but late on Iain Fraser added a third before Thomas “Tuck” Borthwick finished the game off late on to calm any lingering nerves.

Disappointment for Skye in their first Camanachd Cup semi in 9 years, but for Kingussie it means they will now have the opportunity to reclaim shinty’s greatest honour in Oban on Saturday 19th September. They will face the winner of Oban Camanachd – Newtonmore, and whoever wins that there is no doubt the final will be another epic display of shinty at Mossfield.
