It’s another Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup semi final for Newtonmore, how are the team looking forward to the game?

Yeah, looking forward to Saturday’s semi final against Oban, we’ve been on good run of form minus a light set back at the weekend to Col-Glen – credit to them as they were hard opponents and deserved their point! 

You’ve got plenty experience in winning in games like this, how important is it to imprint this know-how onto the younger lads?

Yeah, I’ve played in many a big game over the past 17 years 👨🏼‍🦳 and I try to give advice and settle the younger lads down, but also to have their energy and excitement can be a good thing, as nerves ain’t a bad thing! 

A win would of course set up a tie against Kingussie and give ‘More a chance to avenge the MacTavish, does this add an extra layer of motiviation?

To be honest we are not really thinking that far ahead. We obviously know Kingussie are in the final, but there’s no point thinking about that tie if we don’t go and do the business against a really fit, strong  & young Oban side who will be out to avenge last years semi against us!

Speaking of facing off against your rivals in a Camanachd final – how sweet was regaining the crown last year?

Last year was one of the best moments in mine and all the boy’s careers, beating Kingussie is always sweet to get the bragging rights, but for us we hadn’t won anything for too many years and we felt our rebuild from those years past was nearly there. We have a good young group minus a few older heads and the boys are all really close from the likes of James Coyle, right up to the granda of the team Kenny 🤣
