It’s a trip to Lochaber this weekend, how are you feeling ahead of the game?

I’m feeling confident. Lochaber are a strong side especially at home but we had a good result in our last match away from home, so I’m hopeful we can repeat that and keep our momentum going.

What sort of challenge are you expecting from the opposition?

We’ve had some great matches in Spean Bridge over the years, I think we drew 3-3 last time when we were down. And after watching them on the YouTube from last week I think we are in for a hard game.

Looking forward to the rest of the season, what do you think the squad can achieve?

I think this season will be about getting some consistency week to week. We showed last year that we can beat any team on our day, we just need to have those performances every Saturday. If we can do that then I’ll be hoping to challenge for some silverware.

With returning faces, as well as youngsters such as Jay MacRae stepping up, do you think the squad is in a good place?

We’ve had some changes in the squad this year. Senior players like Oliver coming back and some young guys coming in; Arron Jack playing well at wing back, Jay Macrae picking a goal last week. We also have a really good young second team so I’m sure a few more boys will be looking to move up before long, there is a lot of competition for places. It’s a good problem for the coaches to have.

On a personal level, you’ve been made Kinlochshiel captain – how big an honour is it to lead the squad?

Being made captain is a huge privilege. I’m extremely proud to lead the team. We have loads of experienced guys, so that helps a lot. It’s been great so see all the boys putting in the work in pre season and I hope I can do my part to help take the team forward this year.
