Mowi Game of the Week - Skye vs Badenoch
Caitlin MacLean Interview
Sunday sees a rematch of the 2022 Mowi Valerie Fraser Cup Final, as Badenoch make the trip west to face Skye. Ahead of the match, we spoke to Skye’s top scorer Caitlin MacLean.
You welcome Badenoch this weekend – how are you looking forward to the game?
I think we are all looking forward to the game, we’ve had a good run of games now with a wee break, so it will be nice to have another home game against the Badenoch girls.
Both yourselves and Badenoch have won 5-0 in your last matches – do you think there is potential for a high scoring game?
I think we were both 5-0 against Inverness, which is a good score against a side we often struggle to get goals against. It could suggest a high scoring match but honestly, you never know how it will go against Badenoch, we’ve had some close games over the years and others where they have ran away with it. As long as we score a few goals I’ll be happy!
You sit second in this season’s scoring charts with 7 goals – how do you feel your game is going?
I feel it’s still early in the season, so I’m still needing to improve on fitness despite now having played a number of our games, but if I score a few goals here and there when needed it’s hopefully helping the team get a win.
Skye were drawn against Glenurquhart in the Valerie Fraser – what are your aims for the cup?
Hopefully we will play well against Glen Urquhart and get through to the next round, but our goal every year is to win the league and the cup which hasn’t happened for a number of years now but it’s always our goal. We missed out getting to the cup final last season so it would be nice to be there again this year.
