Mowi Game of the Week - Skye vs Badenoch
Zoe Reid Interview
Sunday sees a rematch of the 2022 Mowi Valerie Fraser Cup Final, as Badenoch make the trip west to face Skye. Ahead of the match, we spoke to Badenoch’s top scorer Zoe Reid.
You make the trip to Skye on Sunday – do you think it’ll be a tough task to bring 2 points home?
Skye away is always a tough task so we’re expecting a fast paced, physical game. As long as we remain calm, play simple shinty, and work hard for 80 minutes we will hopefully be a happy team leaving Skye!
You currently sit top of the scoring charts with 10 goals this season – how do you feel your game is going right now?
I wouldn’t be top of the scoring charts without the rest of the Badenoch girls! I feel my game is going okay, but it’s a team effort and I’m lucky enough to play alongside such an abundance of experienced, skilful, motivated players who all contribute to getting goals in the back of the opponents net.
Badenoch received a bye in the Valerie Fraser – do you think this year could be the year you reclaim the cup?
We hope so! It was extremely disappointing losing in the final last year so we’re even more motivated and determined to bring the cup home to Badenoch. At the moment though, we’re just taking each game as it comes so we’re focusing on leaving Skye with two points this Saturday.
Skye and Badenoch both won 5-0 in their last matches – do vou think there is potential for goals this weekend?
Absolutely. Skye v Badenoch games always seems to have a record of high scoring games and the Skye forwards can be lethal if we give them the chance. Our defence this season have been solid so I have all the faith that they will keep the Skye forwards at bay. As long as we score more goals than Skye, it doesn’t matter what the score is!
