Mowi Game of the Week - Oban Camanachd vs Fort William
Lewis Clark Interview
This Saturday, Oban Camanachd welcome high-flying Fort William to Mossfield in the sole Mowi Premiership match of the weekend. Ahead of the fixture, we spoke to Fort captain Lewis Clark.
It’s been a dream start on your return to the Mowi Premiership – how does it feel to have started off so strong?
It’s been a great start to the league this year so everyone is in good spirits, we came up confident in our squad so it’s nice to see us getting the results on the pitch.
What are Fort William’s main aims this season?
We’re not ruling out any possibilities for us this season, we’ve started really well so it’s about taking it one game at a time. hopefully that can get us challenging for silverware.
Oban Camanachd have had a similarly strong start this season – how hard will it be to go and take points off them?
Oban are a notoriously hard team to beat and goals seem to be flowing for them right now which is similar to us so it should make for a good game. It’s going to be a big test.
What’s been the key to maintaining momentum since your promotion?
I think our squad depth has helped carry our momentum this season. We have a lot of players that can play in multiple positions which has helped a lot when we are missing players.
Are there any players in particular who’ve stepped up this season?
Archie MacKinnon has stepped up a lot again from the good season he had last year. He carries the ball really well and is an intelligent player, if he can add some more goals to his game he will be a real problem for our opponents.
What aspects of Oban’s game do you see as their biggest threats?
Oban are always team that play with a lot of intensity for the full 90 minutes so matching that will be a challenge whilst trying to stop their good goal scoring form.
