You take on Skye this weekend, how are you looking forward to the game?

Big game for us this weekend for sure. I’m looking forward to it. We have been playing really well as a team this season and the effort from all the girls and coaches is starting to show. Just have to stay focused and try not let the local derby nerves take over.

A win over the reigning champions last week means Shiel have already surpassed last season’s point tally – what has worked so well?

The girls have been training so hard and to have the same availability each weekend is a massive bonus as it allows us to really learn to play as a team and understand what works for us. The communication has been a lot better this season as well. I think everyone in the team being so dedicated this season is helping us a lot.

With Skye having scored 34 times already this season the team will have their work cut out, what will the defence need to do to keep their forwards quiet?

Skye have been playing really well as they always do. We know their forward line are strong from short range and long range, we just have to make sure we man mark and stay focused to prevent any mistakes. The defence have been doing so well and it will be interesting to see how we match up at the weekend.

Speaking of goals, you’ve hit plenty of them this season. How good does it feel to be back on the pitch and scoring goals on a consistent basis?

After being away for a while it’s been really good to come back, I may be getting some goals in but that’s all down to the rest of the team. We have grown so much in each area on the field so it allows us to feel more relaxed and know that everyone is capable of doing what is asked.

Youngsters such as Maura MacKenzie and Kaci MacRae have started to really make their mark this year, how have you seen them develop alongside their peers?

Having these girls is a massive bonus to us. They surprise me every single week. It’s really good to see these youngsters progress and slot in against some brilliant players and make it look like they’ve been playing for years. These girls will go extremely far in their shinty career. It just amazes me how young they are when they play the way they do. It’s really nice to get the opportunity to play alongside them.
