Kinlochshiel travel to Oban Camanachd this weekend in the MOWI Premiership, in preparation for that match, we caught up with Kinlochshiel Manager, Willie MacRae. You can read another interview with Oban Camanachd’s Gareth Evans by clicking here.

Willie, you take on Oban Camanachd this week in the MOWI Game of the Week. How important do you think this match will be if you want to realise your ambitions this season?

Yeah, I think the win is very important and normally good hunting ground for us if we have any chance of winning the league it’s got to be 2 points.

Camanachd are undefeated at home this season, whereas Shiel have had some very narrow defeats on the road this year, how confident are you going into this game?

We are very confident going to Oban with a good side scoring plenty goals in recent weeks.

We have seen Finlay MacRae bag a few goals in recent weeks, how is he adjusting to the change in position?

With John out till end of June I had to make big decisions, Mark going Full-back and Finlay to play Full-Forward which he is enjoying.

It was a bit of a ropey start but you’ve strung together a few good results now, is this the stage of the season where you can really kick on?

We’ve had lots of injuries 6 from the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup team but we have been able to bring through some great young players who are up at this level and making it a great squad.

Finally, you’ve scored an average of 5 goals per game over the last 3 matches with Shiel now the 2nd highest scoring side in the division, is it part of the gameplan to go all-out attack or just a product of good quality play?

We’ve always been solid in defence with a couple of bits of reshuffling, I’m luck that I have 4 boys that can play in any position in the park.
