Mowi Valerie Fraser Cup Final - Badenoch vs Lochaber

Amy Disher Interview

It’s the biggest day in Women’s Shinty, as the WCA finals day comes to Newtonmore. The Mowi Valerie Fraser Cup is an exciting rematch of last year’s final between Badenoch and Lochaber, with both teams looking to complete the first part of a potential league & cup double. Ahead of the game, we spoke to Lochaber captain Amy Disher!

It’s a rematch of last year’s final – how are you looking forward to the game?

We are delighted to be in another cup final and really looking forward to the tough game ahead.

You’re the only team to beat Badenoch this year – does this add confidence ahead of the final?

Beating Badenoch home and away this season has given us a boost as we know we can play well against them.

It’s been a fantastic shift from the girls all season to keep the dream of a league + cup double alive – how satisfied are you with the season up to now?

This is the best we have done in the league since I started playing for Lochaber in 2013, we are proud that we have managed to take the premier league to a play off this year.

Last year’s final was a close game before Leah Maxtone finally broke the deadlock – how was the feeling when the final whistle blew?

Last years final was an incredibly hot day and with going to extra time it really tested both teams.
