Next up is the Valerie Fraser Cup Final – how are you feeling ahead of the game?

I am really looking forward to the game on Saturday. The Valerie Fraser cup final is the biggest day in our shinty calendar, and we are delighted that we are playing in it this weekend. Having had our last cup final win in 2022, the girls are really motivated to try and come away with the cup. We have had some great games of shinty against Lochaber over that last few years, and I’m sure this weekend will be the same. The full Badenoch squad have been working hard over the past weeks and months to be fully prepared for this game.

Lochaber have shown in their games against you this season how strong they are – what do you make of them as a team?

Lochaber have been a consistently strong team for a number of years. They’ve shown that they can be difficult to break down and also dangerous on an attack. We know that like us, they will work hard for the full 80 minutes and can create chances which we will have to limit. We are prepared for the challenge this weekend.

The two sides are very evenly matched with only 14 goals conceded a piece – how hard will you have to work to penetrate their defence, whilst keeping their forwards at bay?

Yes, we have had some incredibly close games this year, with constant end to end play. We have strengths in all areas of the pitch which we will need to use during the game. We know that we will have a big task on Saturday to play some clever shinty to break down the Lochaber defence. The forward line have had some incredible performances this year, which will be required again this weekend. Our defenders have been strong in limiting attacks from opposition this year, and will work hard to do the same on Saturday against Lochaber’s quick forward line.

It’s been a strong season for the club, how has it felt to lead the girls out as team captain?

I feel honoured and proud to be able to lead out such an incredible group of players on saturday. We have played together for years, winning and losing as a team, and we have come back stronger every time. We have strength and depth in our club which is down to the hard work of every person, from players to coaches. Our club has grown so much over the past few years and the girls at every level have been doing the club proud. I am grateful to Neil Reid for coaching us throughout this season and being our biggest supporter at the same time. I will be delighted to play the game with this team on Saturday.
