The Camanachd Association can announce applications for the Head Coach of the Men’s National Team position have been extended for an additional two weeks. These roles will lead Scotland’s best into the annual Mowi Shinty/Hurling internationals against Ireland from 2025 to 2027.

These appointments sit at the very heart of international shinty, building on the recent success. This is not just a coaching role, but a chance to shape the national identity of the sport, develop elite-level performance, and inspire the next generation.

Willie MacDonald, Vice-President & Coaching Director, said:

“We are delighted to have extended the deadline to apply for such a prestigious position. We have received a number of strong applications, and are looking to supplement these with more high quality coaches before coming to a decision on who should lead the National Team. We’re looking for a leader who can galvanise, mentor and push our top athletes to compete and succeed on the international stage. There’s an incredible opportunity here to make a lasting contribution to shinty.”

Key tasks for both roles include player selection and development, training programme delivery, and liaising with clubs, coaches, and governing body staff. A strong commitment to inclusion, high standards of conduct, and collaborative working will be essential.
