There was action in the Bullough Cup last night as Oban Celtic II took on Inveraray II at Mossfield Stadium, Oban.

Arguably bigger games will be played at Mossfield this year, including the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Final however, for now at least, Mossfield’s focus was on these two sides. In what was an exciting tie Oban Celtic took the lead 7 minutes into the match through Keegan MacPhee however the match was level by half-time with a Craig Taylor strike setting him on his way to a fine evening of shinty. After the break the game really kicked into life with 3 goals in 11 minutes putting the score at Oban Celtic 3-2 Inveraray. That wasn’t the end of the action though as Craig Taylor popped up again in the 71st minute to take the game into Extra-Time.

The drama was considerably less in the extra period however and 3-3 was the score at FT in ET. The dreaded penalty shootout was how it was decided in the end with Oban Celtic prevailing 2-1.

An Oban Celtic representative said after the match:

“It was a brilliant game of shinty between two really young teams going for the win! It was a real shame there had to be a loser but credit to both clubs for giving youth an opportunity”
