On Wednesday the 18th of June teams from all over Scotland gathered at An Aird, Fort William for the 2025 Tulloch Cup finals. Rockfield, Kirkhill, St Dominic’s, Kingussie, BSGP, Banavie, Govan, Hilton and Tighnabruich were all in attendance after making it through their respective area qualifiers.
All teams were to play each other once, with the top two teams progressing to the final. Rockfield were looking to carry on their previous form, and they did just that. Winning all but 2 of their fixtures Including a win over BSGP whom they had been beaten by the Saturday before at the Mackay Cup Final. 6 wins and 2 draws made them our first finalist.
The rest of the group were battling it out, with many teams desperate to get to the final. Kingussie, Govan and Hilton finished with 9 points, but it was Mackay Cup winners BSGP that secured their place with 14 points and only the defeat to their future final opposition Rockfield. We were all set for a repeat of 4 days prior, as Rockfield looked to gain revenge.
The final started cagey, a complete opposite between these two teams in the league fixture. The middle of the park was were the action was, with both teams preventing the ball going into the forward lines. This is how the game carried on and with extra time looming we knew it would take a touch of magic to change that, and that’s exactly what we got. Rockfield worked the ball onto the wing and once the ball was played into the box there was only going to be one outcome with the Rockfield forward Jack Lockhart sending a great strike low and hard past the BSGP keeper. BSGP tried to respond in the dying embers but Rockfield held on to win the game 1-0 making them the 2025 Tulloch Cup winners.
A massive thank you goes to Fort William for the excellent facilities, and to the Young referees on the day!
