The Camanachd Association are delighted to announce that Euan MacCormick (Beauly) will captain Scotland U17’s on their Tour of Ireland at the end of this month.

The annual tour, which has been taking place for over twenty years, sees the country’s elite shinty players play shinty/hurling challenge matches against their Irish counterparts from Kildare and Dublin.

Scotland Captain Euan MacCormick:

“It’s an honour and a privilege to be named as the captain of the Scotland U17s – we have real quality right across the squad and I am looking forward to leading us out over in Ireland as we look to do the nation proud.”

Euan was named the MOWI Inspirational Young Person of the Year for his exploits in the 2021 season – in 2022 he has scored 8 goals for table topping Beauly so far.

This year’s tour will once again be sponsored by Sitekt, a technology company headquartered on the Isle of Skye and now with offices in London and Edinburgh servicing the digital health and cyber security markets.

Sitekit founder Campbell Grant, himself a former shinty player with Glasgow University, Aberdeen Camanachd and Skye Camanachd in the 1980s, said: “As a business with roots in the Highlands & Islands, Sitekit is proud to support the U17 national team once again and wish the squad well on its tour.”
