Tha Iomain Cholmcille a’ faighinn taic-airgid bho Stòras Cholmcille aig Bòrd na Gàidhlig agus Foras na Gaeilge. Tha an fharpais air a ruith o 2007 agus tha e air an ceangal eadar Èirinn agus Alba,agus Gàidhlig agus camanachd a neartachadh gu làidir. Bidh an tachartas am-bliadhna seo a’ cur air bhog applacaid Stòrlann Nàiseanta na Gàidhlig “Abair Seo” gus conaltradh eadar Gàidheil san dà dhùthaich a bhrosnachadh.

Iomain Cholmcille will take place in Belfast for the first time on the 11th of November, and a wide range of Gaelic speaking players from throughout Scotland will representing Alba and the native language in the international shinty-hurling competition for Gaelic and Irish speakers.
Angus MacInnes, originally of North Uist, but now involved with Glasgow Mid Argyll, and Ally “Digg” Macdonald of Staffin and Skye Camanachd will be managing the men’s team and Kate Bradley of Ardnamurchan will be in charge of the women’s squad. The squad has great deal of depth and strength and they will face off against a range of Irish speaking hurling and camogie teams in the heart of Belfast’s Gaeltacht Quarter.
Iomain Cholmcille receives funding from Bòrd na Gàidhlig and Foras na Gaeilge’s Colmcille fund. This is the fourteenth running of the competition since 2007 and has been very successful in strengthening the bonds between both Ireland and Scotland, and shinty and Gaelic. This year’s event will also see launch of Stòrlann’s “Abair Seo” app to promote communication between Gaelic and Irish speakers.
The competition will be held at Sportlann na hEireann on the Falls Road between 12.30 and 18.30.
