Comann Camanachd Shrath Spè

Strathspey Camanachd Men’s team was founded in 2011. A group of local enthusiasts set up a major club based in Grantown-on-Spey , with the club entering the Northern Development Association endorsed by the Camanash League in the same year. The club had successfully progressed and was accepted into the Northern Harvest Third Division 2012 season. This marked the first competitive shinty game to be played in Grantown on Spey in over 60 years. The club’s first competitive game was a 3-1 loss to on the 3rd March 2012. In late 2011, the club secured Freuchie Park located near Castle Grant.

The club used Freuchie Park during 2012 and 2013 seasons. In January 2014, it was announced that Strathspey would move to and play his home matches on the Grantown Grammar School fields, The first game there was a friendly against Newtonmore 22nd February 2014. The visitors won 6-2.
2014 saw the club advance, finishing third in the league. The club entered the Strathdearn Cup for the first time, reaching the semi-finals, before losing 4–3 to Skye. The club’s progress was mirrored with Andrew Hay, one of the sport’s rookies in 2011, and was named Marine Harvest Player of the Year. Also in 2014, Strath Cam started foundations forming a women’s team . With a lot of help of Jane Nicole and the Scottish international team, the sport has generated a lot of interest among women in the community. Strathspey Camanachd Ladies entered the 2015 Camanachd Women’s Association League structure.
