This Saturday Kyles welcome Lovat to the Playing Fields, Tighnabruaich for a Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Quarter-Final clash. We sat down with Kyles’ Scott MacDonald to find out what he thinks ahead of the big game. An interview with Lovat’s Lorne MacKay will be available later this week…

How have the club been preparing for this big Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Quarter-Final match against Lovat?

We train as normal but due to boys staying in Glasgow we have two separate training sessions one in Tighnabruaich and the other in Glasgow! We train hard and when not at training we do our individual stuff I.e. we use Strava app to record our own fitness work.

It’s been a bit of a mixed bag for Kyles so far this season, but a couple of big wins in the last two games, does that give you confidence coming into the weekend?

The way we have performed in the last two games is the way we should every game! Having a full squad with everyone fit has made a big difference. There’s a good feeling in the team right now and we are confident that we can win this cup tie.

What do you make of Lovat this year? You scored against them earlier in the season, albeit in a 2-1 defeat back in April.

Lovat are very strong defensively and have some threatening players in their forward line. I believe it’s important we start well and look to get the first goal. We know we will need to up our game once again from the previous weeks.

That goal has just been one of  many this year, you are on 12 in all competitions, what is clicking for you in the forward line this year?

Last year I missed many games due to working away, but this years different and I’m able to make training weekly and play every Saturday. I’m feeling confident in the way I’m playing and I hope to keep that going!

A win on Saturday would take Kyles just one game away from making their first Camanachd Final since 2015, what would success in this competition mean to the club?

It’s the biggest cup in the game so it would mean everything to both players/managers and supporters to get hold off it again. Losing last years semi-final to Lovat was a sore one to take, so we are determined to get the better off them this time.
