It will come as a surprise to absolutely no one in the shinty world that the Game of the Week this week is Newtonmore vs Kingussie in the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup. As such, we caught up with both managers, first up is Orsten Gardner from Newtonmore

What are the overall goals for Newtonmore this season?

Simple, to win all the remain trophies.

How do you pick the team up after the disappointment of last weekend?

The game itself picks the boys up. This cup means the world to them so no greater incentive than keeping it in the Balavil.

Will there be any changes in personnel or is it just a case of bad luck on the day?

Stevie (MacDonald) will obviously come back in, he’s the heartbeat of the team and will be a big boost for us.

Max Campbell has been a great addition this season, just how well has he fit into the side?

He fits in very well but that’s down to his desire and attitude. His ability can’t be questioned

Do you think playing at home gives an advantage to Newtonmore?

Nah zero, the Dell or Eilan are pretty much the same to both sets of players.  The Eilan is a better surface but that will suit both teams.

What do you think needs to improve from Saturday’s showing to ensure Newtonmore progress to the next round of the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup?

Hitting and composure.

If you do progress, who do you think will be your biggest challengers for the trophy?

I’d say Oban Camanachd and Kinlochsheil are the two I’d be looking at to challenge.

Stay tuned as later this afternoon we will have an interview from John Gibson, Kingussie.
