Ahead of this weekend’s Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Semi-Final we caught up with Kyles Athletic Manager, Robert Baxter.

Robert, another Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Semi-Final, congratulations, how are you feeling ahead of the game against Lovat?

Thanks Aarron, I’m feeling a wee bit nervous with it being the semi final of the camanachd cup especially in facing a team of Lovat’s calibre .

How is that squad looking ahead of Saturday’s big match?

Our squad isn’t looking too bad, Andrew King returns from injury having missed the Artemis Macaulay Cup semi last weekend. Captain Innes Mcdonald is out with a broken hand and will be missed but we have a couple of younger players desperate to show what they can do on the biggest stage

Kyles are looking to make their first Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Final since 2015, where they missed out to Lovat, is it overdue for a club the size of Kyles to be in that special final?

Kyles have always done well in cup competitions having decent runs. Historically, the club have always punched above their weight due to the size of squad etc.

You played Lovat at home in the MOWI Premiership this year, what did you make of them in that match?

The league match Lovat ran out comfortable winners on the day albeit ourselves having boys missing.

Kyles have a pretty young squad, albeit with some experienced pros in there, how do you think the team will handle the pressure of the occasion, especially with it being televised live on BBC ALBA?

I don’t think the occasion will overwhelm us, I see us as the underdogs for this fixture. Lovat are a fantastic team with a lot of experience where as we have a lot of young players being involved in their first Camanachd semi and we are all relishing the experience.
