Two familiar foes meet once again as Lovat take on Kingussie for the chance to compete in the W M Donald MacTavish Cup final. A re-match of last year’s final, the Kiltarlity outfit will be looking continue their good form and cause an upset against the holders – we spoke to Lovat’s Danny Kelly ahead of the game.
It’s Kingussie in the W M Donald MacTavish Cup this weekend, how are you looking forward to the game?
I think all the lads are looking forward to the game and it’ll be a real test to see where we’re at this year.
Does hitting 10 last week, as well as coming out on top in the derby the week prior give the team a confidence boost ahead of a tricky game?
Yeah it’s given us a good boost coming into this game, especially with all our forwards helping out in the scoring.
Recently we’ve seen some older heads back in the team as well as some youngsters, how is the depth and balance in the squad?
It’s been good having some of the more experienced boys keeping the younger lads right and the younger boys that have come in have played well when given minutes.
On a personal level, you’ve been in the last few Scotland squads, is keeping your spot a goal for this season?
It’s always good to represent Scotland but I don’t want to get too ahead of myself and I want to see us do well in the league and hopefully the cups too.
