W M Donald Game of the Week - Beauly vs Lovat

Iain Hunter Interview

Saturday sees two rivals face off in the W M Donald MacTavish Cup Quarter Final, as Beauly host the 2025 finalists Lovat. Having already faced off in the Lovat Cup at the start of the year, Beauly will be hoping to inflict their first defeat on Lovat since their 4-3 win in 2023. Ahead of the game we spoke to Beauly’s Iain Hunter to get his thoughts on the game.

You take on your rivals Lovat, how are you looking forward to the game?

Looking forward to it, we’ve built a bit of momentum after a slow start to the season and it’s always a good game against Lovat

What makes these Derby matches so special?

What makes these matches so special is that added bit of intensity from being a local derby.

Coming up in the cups you’ll face Aberdour and GMA, can Beauly put together a good cup run this year?

I don’t see why we can’t, we’ve built ourselves some momentum and aim to carry that on going into our upcoming games

After a slow start Beauly have found their stride with 3 wins on the spin, what’s been the catalyst for this change?

We got off to a slow start to the season but we are working hard to put that right. It’s a really competitive league where anyone could beat anyone. The team has changed massively since last season with players in and out and that takes a bit of time to get used to, but we’ve adjusted to it and found our form recently

On a personal level, how do you feel your game is developing?

On a personal level I think my game is developing well and getting better each week
