Saturday sees two rivals face off in the W M Donald MacTavish Cup Quarter Final, as Beauly host the 2025 finalists Lovat. Having already faced off in the Lovat Cup at the start of the year, Beauly will be hoping to inflict their first defeat on Lovat since their 4-3 win in 2023. Ahead of the game we spoke to Lovat captain Marc MacLachlan.
It’s Derby weekend as you take on Beauly, how is the squad looking forward to the game?
The squad is looking forward to the game, always a buzz around a derby game!
Lovat have so far gone undefeated in 2026, what is working well?
Yeah we’re undefeated in a very stop start season so far, we been scoring goals but as a squad we’ve have been under par so far.
The next few games see you compete in 3 other cups as well as taking on Beauly again, how big will these games be in giving Lovat a chance of lifting silverware at the end of the season?
Yeah, the next month is massive with some big games in there, but first and foremost we don’t look past this weekend. Beauly always give us a hard game and they’re hitting form right now.
On a personal level you’ve been given the captaincy this year, how big an honour is this?
Yeah, it’s a massive honour to captain Lovat – I genuinely didn’t expect it.
