Saturday’s MacTavish Final will be preceded by the Juvenile final, as Newtonmore’s under 17s face off against Glen Urquhart for their shot at glory. Ahead of the match we spoke to Newtonmore’s hot prospect Joe Coyle, who has so far hit 30 goals in youth fixtures this season!
You take on Glen Urquhart in the MacTavish Juvenile Final this Saturday – how are you feeling ahead of the game?
All the boys are excited for Saturday, and we’re all ready for a hard game against a good Glenurquhart side.
What do you see as Glen’s main threats, and how will Newtonmore have to work to minimise these?
Glen Urquhart seem to be scoring a good amount of goals, but also doing well to keep them out, so we’re going to have to stay focused the whole game throughout the team.
How are you looking forward to playing at the newly renovated Bught Park?
Yeah. I’m looking forward to playing at the Bught for the first time since it’s been renovated.
You were selected for Scotland U17s last year, what was that experience like and how much does representing your country mean?
It was a great experience going over to Ireland, and meant a lot for me to represent my country!
You’ve hit 7 goals for the first team this season, how do you feel your game is developing?
Yeah, I think playing regularly for the first team has definitely helped me develop as a player.
