On Saturday the Camanachd Association made a little bit of history, or rather that should be restored a little bit of our history.  Many within shinty will be familiar with the distinctive medals that used to be awarded to the MacTavish Cup winners and the MacTavish Juvenile Cup winners but they might not realise that these had ceased to be awarded around twenty years ago.

This issue was brought to the attention of former President, Steven MacKenzie, by former Kingussie Manager, John Gibson.  Steven explored options with Inverness Trophy Centre, who confirmed they could reproduce the original medals.  The issue was taken to the Culture and Heritage committee and then the Board of Directors who both readily agreed for the restoration of the medals.  The final piece of the jigsaw was provided by our Chieftain, John MacKenzie, who kindly provided a MacTavish medal his uncle Duncan won in the 1930s.

It was with great pride that the Camanachd Association once again awarded the 2024 finalists with this distinctive and historic medal!
