It was with great sadness and deep regret that we heard on Tuesday 18th June the news that Donnie ’Pussy’ MacDonald had passed away, at the age of 92 years the previous day, only six days after his brother Ian ‘Sparrow’.   Donnie had been in poor health for some time.

Like ’Sparrow’ Donnie had spent a huge part of his life playing shinty for Caberfeidh at senior level, and later being involved in the running of the Club as a committee member.   Such was his interest in the Club and commitment to the game that when he had retired from the first team he was re-instated as a Junior and for a number of years played as a player/ coach in the second team.   Over the years he had played alongside each of his four brothers, Alasdair, Ian, Neil and Harry.   Donnie played in a number of MacGillivray League Cup finals and like ‘Sparrow’ was also a member of the winning 1963 team.   Donnie’s son-in-law, Rory MacGregor, was a member of the successful Caberfeidh teams in the 1990s.

Donnie will be greatly missed in the Club and beyond and our sympathy goes out to his wife Helen and daughters Jackie, Lesley and Karen and their respective families, and also to the wider family.
