Comann Camanachd Glaschu
Meadhan Earra Ghàidheal
Glasgow Mid Argyll were established in 1928 and have a proud uninterrupted history over the past 93 years. Whilst at one time there were many shinty clubs playing in the city, Glasgow Mid Argyll (GMA) are now the last surviving senior shinty club playing ‘Scotland’s most historic sport’.
We play our matches at Peterson Park, Yoker and have a social base at Hillhead Sports Club in the West End of Glasgow. We have an excellent reputation on and off the pitch, being well organised, competitive and socially inclusive.
FOUNDED IN 1928
It was in 1973 in Fort William that GMA had their finest hour in winning the Camanachd Cup on a very wet Claggan Park
In 2015 our women’s teams had the fantastic achievement of winning both the Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup and Challenge Cup on the same day at Bught Park, Inverness.
All shinty players coming to Glasgow will be warmly welcomed at the club. We also welcome players from other sports such as hockey, hurling and camogie who would like to give shinty a try.
We have senior men’s and women’s teams and cater for a range of skill and experience levels from complete beginners through to seasoned campaigners.
Our under 17 development team provides the opportunity for youth players from junior clubs in the wider Glasgow area to participate in Camanachd Association competitions and events creating a clear pathway for boys and girls from secondary school age to continue their development into playing senior shinty.
