Mowi Game of the Week - Inverness vs GMA

Laura McCafferty Interview

It’s North vs South at the Bught Park as Inverness welcome Glasgow Mid Argyll ladies to the Highland Capital. Ahead of the match we caught up with GMA’s Laura McCafferty!

It’s a trip up the A9 to the Highland Capital to face Inverness – what kind of game are you expecting?

Inverness are a young team so we’re expecting them to be fit and hungry for the win. We are playing 12-a-side rather than our usual 10-a-side game so it might take us all a while to settle into the different positions.

Glasgow can make it 4 in a row over Inverness – how are you working towards making this happen?

We have been training hard all season to be prepared for all games. We will just play our own game on the day and try make the ball do as much of the work as we can on the bigger pitch.

You’ll face off against Kinlochshiel in the Valerie Fraser – how important would a win be to give GMA a chance of a VF triumph?

A win would be great but we will be focussing on each game as it comes and not looking too far ahead. We have a couple of young girls breaking though so this will be everyone’s opportunity to show what they can do and earn their place on the cup team.

GMA currently sit mid-table – how is the mood around the squad right now?

The mood in the team is great. Morale and enthusiasm are high so it’s been a great team to be part of again this year. Our captain, Ali, brings us great energy and motivates us all to be better. We’re only half way through the season so there’s still a lot to play for!
