Kinlochshiel are set to commence their WCA Premier League campaign this Sunday, and it’s a tricky start to the season as they face off against a strong Badenoch side who will be gunning for the league title. Ahead of the match we spoke to Rhianna Kirk, who is set to make her Kinlochshiel debut after making the move from Skye Camanachd.

It’s a tough task as you travel to face Badenoch in the Premier League this week, how are you looking forward to the match?

We’re all looking forward to getting our first game of the season played, we know Badenoch will be a tough match as they are an experienced side but I am feeling confident, we have been training hard through pre season and all the girls are ready for the game on Sunday.

You’ve made the switch from Skye to Kinlochshiel, how have you found the move so far?

I’ve been training with Shiel for around a year now. The move has been smooth as the girls and the coaches, Andrew and Ali, have been so welcoming. The pitch is also 10 minutes from home which makes a big difference travel wise. Training has been brilliant and I am really looking forward to our first time playing as a team together on Sunday.

What are your aims for the season?

I think our main aim for this season is to enjoy it, there’s a lot of younger girls coming up into the team, so it’ll be nice to see them settling well into the Premier League games. It goes without saying we want to be coming away from games with a win and getting stronger each game.

With the premier cup being a welcome addition to the WCA schedule, do you think Shiel can put a strong cup run together?

Yes, I think we’re more than capable of putting up a good fight in the cup. We’re really keen to make a mark this season and come away with some silverware at the end of it.
