Mowi Game of the Week - Inveraray vs Aberdour
Rowan Cooper Interview
It’s a first ever competitive meeting between newly promoted Inveraray and Aberdour in the WCA Mowi National Division this Sunday, we spoke to Rowan Cooper to get her thoughts ahead of the game.
Aberdour will make the trip to Inveraray for the first ever competitive meeting between the sides – how are you looking forward to the game?
The team is really looking forward to it. It’s always exciting coming up against a new opponent, especially away from home, and it’s a good chance to see how we’re shaping up at this stage.
It’s 1 win and 1 defeat so far this season, how did preparation for the season go?
Preparation went well. We had a strong turnout at training and put in a lot of work, and that’s starting to show in our performances. There’s still improvements to make, but we’re building well.
The next match will see Aberdour take on Strathglass in the new Single Team Cup – do you think the new trophy is a welcome addition to shinty, and do you think Aberdour have potential to put a good cup run together?
I think it’s a great addition. It adds another competitive edge to the season and gives everyone something to push for. It’ll be a good test for us, and if we focus on our own performance, we’ve got every chance of progressing.
Last year you were included in the National team of the season, was it nice to get recognition, and does this add extra motivation to perform to the same level this season?
It was nice to get that recognition, especially knowing the standard across the league. But for me, it’s more about keeping consistent and helping the team perform. It definitely gives you a bit of motivation to maintain that level and keep improving.
