Mowi Game of the Week - Glasgow Mid Argyll u17 vs Inveraray u17

Ruairidh Macsween Interview

The under 17’s leagues return on Tuesday, with our spotlight south match taking place between GMA and Inveraray. Ahead of the match at Castle Leod, we spoke to GMA’s Ruairidh Macsween.

After last year’s dominant MacQuisten Cup win, how are Glasgow Mid Argyll shaping up for this season’s Mowi Youth League?

With only losing 3 players from last season with the rest of the team gaining more experience, I think that we are still a contender for the league.

What did representing the South of Scotland at U17 level last year mean to you personally?

I felt proud to represent my club and was excited to see the strength of the north players.

Inveraray visit first — what sort of challenge are you expecting in your opening match?

Losing Logan Adam this year means we might struggle to break through Inveraray’s defence without a strong Full Forward.

Which areas of your game have you focused on improving over the off-season?

I have mostly worked on my strength, getting into powerlifting and my hitting.

With momentum from 2024, what are your ambitions for this year — both individually and as a team?

Ss a team I am hoping that we can win the MacQuisten Cup again this year, as well as topping our group in the Mowi Youth League and personally, I’m hoping to make it into the South squad again.
