‘Shinty’s Story – Sgeul na Camanachd’
Overview
The Camanachd Association (CA) is dedicated to promoting the sport of shinty and its rich heritage. Our new exhibition, “Shinty’s Story – Sgeul na Camanachd,” located at the High Life Highland pavilion in Bught Park, aims to educate the public about shinty’s historical and cultural significance. We are seeking to commission high-quality museum display cases to showcase artefacts and memorabilia central to the exhibition. The project timeline anticipates installation completion within three months from the contract award. These cases are essential for the preservation and effective display of valuable items, enhancing the visitor experience and supporting educational objectives.
Methodology
We expect potential suppliers to provide a detailed methodology for the design, production, and installation of the display cases. This should include considerations for the preservation of artefacts, security features, and aesthetic integration with the overall exhibition design. Proposals should outline materials to be used, adherence to museum standards, and the process for quality assurance.
Outputs/Deliverables
Suppliers are expected to deliver and install the museum display cases within the agreed timeframe, ensuring they meet specified standards for security, durability, and aesthetic quality. Deliverables include detailed design schematics, material specifications, and a maintenance guide. Regular progress updates and a final presentation to our project team are required. Failure to meet deadlines may result in penalties and impact future collaboration opportunities.

Contract Management
The work is expected to begin within two weeks of contract award and be completed within three months. The budget for this project is £45000 inclusive of VAT and expenses. Payments will be linked to milestones: 20% upon fabrication drawings signs off, 60% for material order and fabrication of cases, and 20% upon successful installation and final inspection. The contract will be managed by our Exhibition Design Content Partners Lateral North, the Camanachd Association’s Project Manager and with additional oversight from our heritage committee.
Award Criteria
Proposals should include:
- A detailed methodology and timeline
- Cost breakdown including VAT and expenses
- Relevant experience and qualifications Proposals will be evaluated on understanding of the project (20%), proposed methodology (20%), experience (20%), and cost (40%).

- Proposal return deadline: June 10th 2025
- Notification of decision: June 17th 2025

This project is dependent on second stage National Lottery Heritage Funding which is anticipated to be confirmed on 17th June.
