It’s a big one at the top of the table this weekend, a tricky one to call as a neutral with both teams being so strong – how are you feeling ahead of the game?

It’s a tough game to have so soon in the league campaign. We know Lochaber will have been working hard and will look to defend their league title this season. The Badenoch girls have been working hard so are excited about the start of the season. I think it will come down to which team wants it more on the day.

How big a statement would a win be?

A win would be great. It will set the tone for the rest of the season. We have come short to Lochaber in 3/4 of our last meetings so 2 points would put us in the driving seat again.

The last time the two sides met Lochaber ended your long league winning streak – will this add an extra level of motivation?

Losing out in the league title in 2025 has fuelled a lot of preseason. It’s always a tough battle with Lochaber and it’s hard to predict which way each game will go. The team have put in a lot of work since then and I know the girls will go out fighting on Sunday.

With another cup competition being added, what are Badenoch’s aim for the season ahead?

The additional cup will be great for the development of the Women’s game and it adds another competitive streak. Obviously we would like to retain the Valerie Fraser and claim the league back but the 12-a-side cup will be a good opportunity to include some of the younger team members which is important too!

How has Corky got the team ready for the season?

We have been doing a lot of fitness during the preseason period along with outdoor training. There is a good vibe within the players and a really positive approach from Corky. We are all looking forward to see what the season brings!
